Direct Mail Campaigns
Direct Mail is currently only available in the United States.
Use all the audience segmenting, campaign sending, and data analytics tools available in AIQ to send your customers customizable, physical postcards with the Direct Mail messaging tool.
Start by heading to your Campaigns page and click Create Campaign.
Scroll down to Direct mail notification and click Add direct mail.
Before proceeding, read the Image requirements on the right of the Direct mail builder to ensure the file you upload can be supported.
Select your On-demand postcard size.
Upload images for the front and back of your On-demand postcard:
- Your artwork should include a 1/8" border around the final trim size. This means your final file size will be a total of 0.25" larger than your expected printed piece (ie, a 4"x6" postcard should be submitted as 4.25"x6.25"). There is no need to include crop marks in your submitted content.
- Include a safe zone – make sure no critical elements are within 1/8" from the edge of the final size.
- Do not include any additional postage marks or indicia.
- File sizes should be no larger than 5MB.
- Minimum 300 dpi. The dpi is calculated as (width of image in pixels) / (width of product in inches) and (length of image in pixels) / (length of product in inches). For Example: 1275px x 1875px image used to create a 4.25" x 6.25" postcard has a dpi of 300.
- Submitted images must have the same length to width ratio as the chosen product. Images will not be cropped or stretched by the API.
Conceal Recipient Name: When enabled, this setting conceals the recipient's name on the postcard, replacing it with 'Current Resident'. This option provides customers with an added layer of discretion and privacy.
Click Save design to campaign and if you're ready to publish, flip the Status to ON and click Save campaign.
- Use high contrasting font colors so the customer can easily read what you have to say.
- Choose fonts that are easily digestible. Century Gothic, Helvetica, and Verdana are three of the easiest fonts to read.
- Use two different fonts to create a contrast that's visually appealing.
- Make the CTA (Call To Action) stick out by adding a border around it.
- If you're targeting non-loyalty members, add a custom sign-up QR code to track how many sign-ups are coming from your direct mail efforts. Create an audience that signed up via that specific form using the audience trait Contact trait / Signup URL / Contains / [actual signup form URL]. The URL is found in your AIQ dashboard via Settings > Signup forms > Copy the link
- Use AIQ's Data analytics tool to analyze the audience you created above for sales and conversion insights after the 30-day conversion window has passed.
- If you're targeting existing loyalty members, add their wallet login QR code with a CTA to "Check your points balance and available rewards"
- Send product-specific postcards to customers that purchase those products by creating category audience segments using the Audiences tool.
- On-demand postcards take 48 hours to send out and 5-7 days to be delivered.
- Attribution windows are automatically set for 30 days following the delivery receipt for each mailbox.
- A persona can only be mailed if they have a valid address with the following fields filled in First Name, Last Name, Street, City, State, Zipcode, Country
- Postcards will only be sent to valid addresses which AIQ can pull from your point-of-sale or other sources if that information is collected. AIQ can also collect this information through the sign-up form but you'll want to enable the Force valid address toggle on the sign-up form to ensure a valid address is collected.
- Reference local regulations on direct mail marketing to ensure your industry and marketing tactics are in compliance.
- Unlike the SMS and Email builders, postcards will need to be designed outside of AIQ and uploaded as a single file (one for the front and one for the back of the postcard)
Postcards are printed and mailed commonly within 48 hours of the campaign going live. Attribution windows will automatically be 30 days following the delivery receipt time for each mailbox. Postage is handled on the back of the postcard, click "show example" for more info.
All addresses will be validated before sending a postcard. If an address does not meet our deliverability strictness we will not send the postcard and you will not be charged.
