Abandoned Cart Notifications

When a customer abandons their cart, they leave without making a purchase, and the items they added to their cart remain unsold. Roughly 70% of shoppers abandon their carts without checking out.

Using AIQ's Abandoned cart notifications, you can target consumers who have abandoned carts and send them a reminder to finish checking out or even share a discount or other incentive.

Abandoned Cart Notifications work with AIQ Ecommerce and many of our integrated ecommerce partners.

Abandoned Cart Triggers

The first step in sending abandoned cart emails is to receive information about the abandoned cart from your ecommerce provider, so make sure that is connected and the feature is enabled. See Integrations for info about your specific provider.

The timing of Abandoned Cart Triggers are sent by your ecommerce provider. This can vary by provider, and may be editable.

Both Simple and Dynamic triggers notify AIQ when to automatically send text messages, emails, and push notifications to shoppers who have abandoned their carts.

  • Shares the customer identifier

How to Create an Abandoned Cart Campaign

Assuming you've connected your ecommerce provider (see steps above) to create the trigger, now you'll need to create the campaign.

Pre-requisite: Connect your ecommerce provider.

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Campaigns and create a new campaign
  2. Select which channels you'd like to use for abandon cart. Email is the most common.
  3. On the Recipients screen, select campaign type of Abandon Cart. If you want all your customers to receive these abandon cart messages, choose All subscribed users.
    • This will automatically include the Abandoned Cart Trigger from your integrated ecommerce to send a notification for both simple and dynamic triggers.

  4. On the Content screen, you'll see a filter for the templates already set to "Abandon Cart". You can use one of these templates create your own custom one.

  5. Click "Product Feed" to add the dynamic product content to display the abandoned cart items in the message
  6. In the modal, select "User abandoned items"
    • Note: This option will only show IF your ecommerce supports Dynamic Triggers (listed above)
  7. Continue to Review.
  8. On the Review screen, your schedule will automatically set to "Ongoing"
  9. Set Live

FAQs

Can I customize the abandon cart window (e.g. it's set at 2 hours, but I'd like it to be 1 hour)?

Most of the abandon cart timers are set on the ecommerce side - check with your specific provider.

How do I show the abandoned products in the abandon cart email?

You need to add Dynamic Content to your abandon cart email template. This only works with certain Ecommerce providers, outlined above.
