Product Quantity Threshold

4min

Background

Quantity Thresholds on products allow you to hide products when they hit a certain quantity; this can help alleviate issues with overselling.

When products fall below the Quantity Threshold, they will be automatically hidden from the menu. However, the products will still be enabled, just filtered out of the menu view. Once the stock exceeds the threshold, the products will reappear on the menu.

This is useful when you're integrating with a POS system. AIQ Ecommerce automatically syncs with POS systems every 10 minutes. While this is typically short enough to keep products between AIQ Ecommerce and your POS in sync it's possible that products can oversell because of the lag time between syncing.

Set Quantity Threshold per Product

  1. Navigate to Menu > Products > Product Details > Pricing tab
  2. Enter in a number in the 'Quantity Threshold' field
  3. Save

Typically a low number like 4 or 5 is sufficient, but you may need to experiment a bit to find the right number.

Set Default Quantity Threshold per Category

You can configure a default threshold per each category. This default will automatically apply to all new products added to AIQ Ecommerce - the default will not apply to any existing inventory.

  1. Navigate to Menu > Categories > select the category
  2. On the Details screen, find the "Default Product Quantity Threshold" setting and input a number.
  3. Save.

Which Products have a Quantity Threshold set?

To monitor which products are above or below the threshold, use the Quantity Threshold filter in the products dashboard in Menu > Products.
